Bite-sized but plenty of flavour

With all of the uncertainties of the pandemic, we wondered how we could bring the Food Festival back to Llangollen safely. The obvious answer was to hold a bite-sized festival outdoors and when Pip Gale, owner of the legendary Gales Wine Bar, offered his outside space the stage was set for a smaller but no less tasty food festival.

On a beautiful Autumn weekend, around 30 food producers from around the area including Powell’s Pies, Sabor de Amor, Angel Feathers Gin, Steve’s Cheese, Aballu Chocolate and Mug Run set up their stalls in Gales’ Wine Garden and car park and soon people poured in to sample the many delights on offer. Being able to talk to producers about their food is always one of the highlights of the food festival and even on this much smaller scale, it was no exception this year. Adding to the festive atmosphere was the outside dining area which made it all feel almost normal! On hand to capture the weekend’s activities were Mark and Glenda who posted a video of the goings-on to YouTube (see above).
